Miller Center For Recreation and Wellness
The Miller Center is a community-based wellness and recreation facility located at Penn House Commons in Lewisburg, PA. The 110,000-sf multi-purpose facility contains the following spaces and amenities:
- Synthetic turf field with drop-down cages for baseball, softball, and golf practice
- Four hard courts that multi-purpose for basketball and many other team based sports
- Fitness center including specialized performance fitness and separate group fitness
- Outdoor courtyard uniquely connected to the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail
- Commercial kitchen and Café
- Evangelical Orthopedics and Physical Therapy
- Multi-use rooms
- Locker facilities
- Second floor viewing mezzanine
The adaptive re-use project involved a complete renovation of a 92,000-sf abandoned warehouse building formerly utilized by the Pennsylvania House Furniture Company. Typical of an adaptive re-use project, there were many unique challenges in transforming an aging warehouse to achieve the objectives of a new multi-purpose facility while maintaining compliance with current building trends and codes. Mid-Penn Engineering’s group of seasoned professionals were instrumental in tackling these unique challenges as evidenced by the final product that was successfully completed in the year 2017.
